I made an appointment to have my tires replaced at the Chapel Hill location. I chose Pep Boys because they were the only tire company in Chapel Hill/Durham that showed the tires in stock. I arrived at my appointment time to be told they do not have the tires in stock. I asked for an alternative. The gentlemen went into the back and after a few minutes told me they did in fact have my tires and would begin working on them. The job went really quickly. I was impressed. I paid for them and then went to my car to discover that the tires they put on were not what I had ordered. I questioned them and was told that the tires were essentially the same and the same price point so I agreed to keep them. I asked that my receipt be changed to reflect the new model tires. I was told that they can’t do that. I was worried that if I ran into a problem, the tires on my car and the receipt would not match and so the warranty would not work. The clerk told me to just call them if I ran into any problems and they would straighten it out. I left disgruntled but had to hit the road because we live across the state. I would straight up not recommend this place. I had my car towed here when it broke down. 48 hours later they sent me an analysis of my breaks telling me I could replace my brake pads. I did not have my car towed to them to have them look at my breaks. I had it towed since it would not turn on. They then promise to look at other areas of my car. I did not hear from them until I sent my husband to the shop to ask in person for an update. I agree with the other reviews it feels like they are keeping your car hostage and lying about the time line of when things will be done.

I thoroughly enjoyed the service I received today! Logan was very helpful in explaining his assessment of my tires and was quick with the service. I went in at 4pm and was out at 5:45pm. I was incredibly happy with that considering I purchased 4 new tires. Thanks for taking care of my car! And thank you Logan for the great service! 💕

Absolutely worst mechanic shop I’ve ever visited. No diagnostic offered when I dropped my vehicle off. They fixed the wrong item on my vehicle. I had to take it to another pepboys to get it fixed correctly. No service advisors on site while I dropped my vehicle off. The clerk didn’t know anything and was rude and unhelpful. Managers not available until after 2 pm. Absolutely no accountability taken when it was found they fixed the wrong part of my car. NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE. There aren't enough 👎🏽 I can give this place to reflect the truth of my experience.

This is the best auto shop I’ve ever been to. The prices are reasonable and I always have exceptional customer service. I have never left here feeling ripped off. I have a jiffy lube 2 minutes from my house but I drive across town to come here because it’s so much better. Really great people and really great service. Couldn’t recommend this place more!
